The advocacy group Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays and Gays (PFOX) believes homosexuality is a state of mind that can be overcome. PFOX decries the lack of ex-gay information in libraries and considers that lack a tacit approval of homosexuality.

PFOX has launched an effort to encourage libraries to include ex-gay materials in their collections.

Critics charge that PFOX materials are scientifically suspect and that their advice could detrimentially affect readers.
